Yurigaoka Christ Church
The ScripturesWe believe that the Holy Bible was written under divine inspiration, reveals God’s holy will regarding the salvation of mankind, and is the supreme and perfect standard in our Christian life.
GodWe believe in the one and only, true and living God. We believe that God is the Creator of the universe and is the triune God, who is the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, revealing His perfect character through His salvanic work in mankind and through His rule over all creation.
Fall of MankindWe believe mankind is created in the likeness of God’s image; however, we fell into sin by our disobedience to God and were sentenced to eternal condemnation.
SalvationWe believe that all mankind can receive a perfect salvation, which is by God’s grace alone, not by works of mankind, and eternal life only by faith in Christ’s atoning death and resurrection.
Repentance, Faith, Regeneration, SanctificationWe believe that in order to be saved, one must experience repentance of sin, faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as his or her Savior, regeneration led by the Holy Spirit, and sanctification. We believe God’s election can be acknowledged as a result of the salvanic, regenerational, sanctified work in sinful mankind and belief in the gospel.
The ChurchWe believe the Church, with the Lord Jesus Christ as its head, is an autonomous community of believers who accept the gospel of Christ and receive baptism. We believe the purpose of the Church is to deepen fellowship in the Lord, to practice the ordinances, and to spread the gospel of Christ. The directors of the church are the pastors and deacons, and its qualifications are as indicated in the epistles to Timothy and the epistle to Titus.
The OrdinancesWe believe baptism is the immersion by water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This serves to demonstrate our faith in and obedience to the Lord’s death on the cross and His resurrection, as well as symbolizing our death to sin and rise to the newness of life by Christ’s completed work, and is a necessary ordinance for entering the church fellowship. We also believe that it is important to practice the Lord’s Supper, as a remembrance of the atoning love of the Lord on the cross, and, at the same time, anticipating the Lord’s return.
Christian LifeWe believe that Christians, by setting the first day of the week as the Lord’s day, remember the resurrection of Jesus Christ, offer worship, and set this day apart for God and for individual souls. We also believe that, having been led by the Holy Spirit, we are to offer (our bodies) as living sacrifices, holy to God, and to do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, becoming witnesses of the gospel at all times. Because we believe that the government of a nation is ordained by God and is for the peace and order of society, we believe we are to obey it so as not to be contrary in our consciousness to the will of Christ who is our only Lord and King of kings.
Last DaysWe believe that the Last Days will come, and at that time, the Lord Jesus Christ will judge the world, and sinners not yet saved will be sentenced to eternal perishing and the righteous by faith to eternal salvation.
